The Old-Time Scotch Collie possesses a timeless beauty, but beauty alone has never been our goal. We believe the true value of this breed lies in its character. We carefully select for dogs that are affectionate, intuitive, trustworthy, eager to serve, and deeply devoted to their people. Whether living on a working farm or curled up beside the fireplace after a family hike, we want every puppy we raise to become a treasured member of the family and a lifelong blessing to the home it joins.
As preservation breeders, protecting the health of the breed is one of our highest priorities. While occasional puppies may be unaffected carriers for conditions such as CEA or MDR1, we intentionally strive to produce puppies that are genetically clear for the major hereditary diseases affecting collies whenever possible. Our commitment is not simply to today's puppies but to ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy healthy Old-Time Scotch Collies for decades to come.
Preserving this Extraordinary Heritage Breed
The preservation of this nearly lost breed has become a true family legacy. What began with our immediate family has now extended into the next generation, as many of our adult children own and breed Old-Time Scotch Collies themselves. It is our prayer that they will continue protecting and preserving this extraordinary heritage breed, one that came dangerously close to disappearing during the 1980s. We feel incredibly blessed to play a small role in ensuring its future.
Raising Puppies With Purpose
Every puppy is born and raised as part of our family, receiving daily interaction, affection, and careful attention from the very beginning of life.During their earliest weeks, we incorporate neurological stimulation along with many principles from Puppy Culture to encourage confidence, resilience, and healthy development. Although we typically begin introducing solid food around three to four weeks of age, we also believe in allowing puppies to nurse as long as their mother naturally desires, often until six or even seven weeks, because we believe nature often provides the best foundation.
Our philosophy is one of thoughtful stewardship rather than excess. We take a "less is often more" approach to vaccinations and are always happy to discuss vaccination schedules, alternatives, and health considerations with prospective families so they can make informed decisions that fit their own circumstances.
Our Story
Our journey with the Old-Time Scotch Collie began out of necessity.In 2008, after losing several farm animals to repeated dog attacks, we realized we needed a dog capable of protecting our livestock while also becoming a trustworthy companion for our growing family.
We were searching for a dog with sound judgment, courage, intelligence, and a gentle nature, a combination that seemed increasingly difficult to find. Through what we truly believe was God's providence, we purchased Sir Archibald Forbes from Jessica Henning.

"From the moment he joined our family, he exceeded every expectation."
Archibald (2008-2023) faithfully watched over our farm, cared for our animals, and became one of our children's closest companions. His loyalty and intuition continually amazed us. In 2011, he was the first to alert our family to a rapidly approaching wildfire, giving us precious time to safely evacuate. His actions quite literally protected our family. We often referred to him as the seventh child, and he truly was a member of the family.
In 2012, we acquired Ford’s Vineyard Rose Marjorie, and we had our first litter of Old-Time Scotch Collies in 2012. That single decision has grown into a calling that continues today: preserving one of America's greatest heritage dogs while helping families discover the extraordinary companionship, intelligence, loyalty, and quiet strength that have made the Old-Time Scotch Collie such a treasured partner for generations.We are grateful for every family who entrusts one of our puppies with a place in their home, and we remain committed to preserving this remarkable breed for generations yet to come.
